Sheriff’s deputies say robbers followed the 90-year-old woman right into her home. She didn’t have a chance to react.
“One suspect put a gun at her neck and said “Do as I say and you won’t be hurt," said Jim Amormino, an Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson.
According to neighbors, the Orange County woman did as she was told. She never panicked and never cried out for help.
Neighbor Jennifer Dolce says the suspects did take a treasured ring from the woman "that was an heirloom" that had been in her family for 100 years.
"They also ripped off a bracelet so she has some bruising there," Dolce added.
Deputies say the two male suspects ransacked the entire house, tying the woman to a chair with electrical cord. They covered her face so she couldn’t see them. At one point, the suspects asked her where the Christmas presents were hidden.
The woman’s son says his mom was able to signal for help by pressing her Life-Alert button after the suspects drove away.
“You gotta know my mother” he says, “she’s a retired military wife so she handled it well.”
Neighbors saw a small white pickup truck drive away .
Wednesday evening the suspects were still at large.
